Wet Weather Closes Door on Whip City Speedway Opening Day

Westfield, MA  May 3, 2008  Wet weather forced Whip City Speedway to postpone the opening of its 2008 season by one week, until Saturday May 10.  The decision was posted on the track’s website before 9:00 am.
 
“We looked at forecasts from 3 different sources and decided it was in everyone’s best interest to cancel,” said Whip City Speedway co-owner and racing director Dave Pighetti.  “With the price of gasoline and diesel fuel, we didn’t think it was fair to our competitors for us to take a chance with their money.  It’s part of our commitment to do what we can do keep down the cost of racing.  We’ll be ready to rock and roll next Saturday,” he concluded.
 
Whip City Speedway offers two complete shows for one low admission every Saturday.  Competition Karts, 250cc and Youth Mini Sprints and make up the afternoon program which gets underway at 12:30 pm.  Four Cylinder Street Stocks are added every other week.
 
The evening program starts at 5:00 pm and consists of heats and features for Modified Lites, Quad 4 Midgets and Mini Sprints in the following classes: 270cc, 600cc, 750cc, 750 Sportsman and 1200cc.  Adult tickets are just $12 while kids 10 years and younger are just $3.  Parking is always free and Whip City Speedway is just a hop, skip and a Mini Sprint flip from both I-91 and I-90- The Mass Pike.  Check out our website at www.whipcityspeedway.com.
